George Fromby was one of the Poulton Home Guard's despatch riders, and a chap who will be long retired now who I worked with in the 1980's recalled he rode around Poulton on it at breakneck speed! Apparently, he did all his own stunts in the T.T. film he made on t'Isle of Man. Just recently, they put a blue plaque on the last house he lived in in St.Annes before he died in 1961. Note he is wearing webbing gaiters; I have seen newsreels with Home Guard NCO's sometimes wearing 37 pattern webbing gaiters; I expect Mr Formby acquired a pair on one of his many tours/perfomances at an army camp somewhere.
